Watch live: House Republican leaders give remarks amid GOP megabill push

House GOP leaders will brief reporters Wednesday morning as their counterparts in the Senate are set to consider President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” focused on his legislative priorities.

The spending package, spearheaded by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), faces an uphill battle in the upper chamber as fiscal hawks continue to question a proposed raise to the debt ceiling and some of the actions, including sweeping cuts to Medicaid.

Their remarks come as key Trump ally and tech billionaire Elon Musk has openly criticized the legislation as “pork-filled” and a “disgusting abomination.” Despite the criticism, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has voiced optimism that the upper chamber can help move the megabill by the White House’s proposed July 4 deadline.
