Pregnant woman shot in Florida county: authorities

A pregnant woman was shot outside of a hospital in Celebration, Fla. on Thursday in what police said was an “isolated incident.”

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Department said on Twitter that a suspect was in custody, with officials telling local NBC affiliate WESH 2 that an unidentified man had committed the shooting.

“Our deputies responded to a Shooting in the vicinity of Advent Health in Celebration. This was an isolated incident. The victim is a pregnant female who sustained critical injuries and is receiving treatment. Her condition is stable. Suspect is in custody,” the department tweeted.

“Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office thank the quick response of the community and the outstanding work of the deputies attending this case. More information will be released once we process the details of the case,” the department continued.

It was unclear if the two knew each other, or what the woman’s condition was after the shooting. The Hill has reached out to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department for more information.

AdventHealth Celebration is a 220-bed hospital facility located near the Walt Disney World Resort and serves as both the primary hospital for visitors to the parks as well as a community hospital for the greater Orlando area.
