Man charged for allegedly molesting multiple children at Atlanta summer camp

A man has been charged for allegedly molesting multiple children at a summer camp in Atlanta.

Atlanta Police Lt. Felicia Claxton said at a press conference on Friday that the man is charged with “several felonies” for the alleged abuse that took place between 2016 and 2018 at West End Summer Camp.

The Police Lieutenant said the force is attempting to identify possible victims and anyone who may have witnessed inappropriate behavior at the camp.

Claxton said that a parent contacted the police earlier this year regarding an allegation of molestation that they said occurred at the camp.

She did not release the names of the suspect nor any of the victims due to the “sensitivity of the investigation,” and to “maintain the integrity” of the probe. However, she said that the victims were under the age of 12.

Claxton also said there were “multiple” victims, but did not specify how many. 

“This case is heartbreaking, because the people entrusted to protect children, our most vulnerable population, violated their trust and harmed innocent children,” she said.

According to a police report obtained by The Marietta Daily Journal, a woman reported crimes in early February after her granddaughter told her of alleged incidents.

The Journal reported that the girl told her grandmother of the incidents a month earlier, but the woman held off on calling the police after an attorney advised her not to.

She later spoke with another lawyer, who told her to report it immediately.
