Graham: Biden has been ‘very destabilizing’ in first 100 days

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) accused President Biden of taking “destabilizing” actions during his first months in the Oval Office, arguing during a “Fox News Sunday” appearance that the president’s foreign policy has been a “disaster” and that Biden has thrown a “wet blanket” on the economy.

The South Carolina Republican told host Chris Wallace said that he was “in the 43 percent,” referring to the percentage of Americans in a new Fox News poll who said they disapprove of the job Biden is doing as president.

“I think he’s been a very destabilizing president,” Graham said. “And economically, he’s throwing a wet blanket over the recovery, wanting to raise taxes in a large amount and regulate America basically out of business.”

“AOC [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)] said his first 100 days exceeded her expectations. That’s all you need to know,” Graham said, referring to the progressive lawmaker.

Graham went on to attack the president’s handling of the ongoing surge of Central American migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, which Republicans have blamed on Biden’s reversal of Trump-era immigration policies that Democrats decried as inhumane for years under the previous administration.

“He’s been a disaster on foreign policy,” Graham added. “The border is in chaos. The Iranians are off the mat. He’s opening up negotiations with the Iranian regime that they haven’t done a damn to change. Afghanistan is going to fall apart. Russia and China are … already pushing him around.”

Graham’s remarks come just days ahead of Biden’s planned address to a joint session of Congress later this week marking his first 100 days in office. The president heads into the week with positive approval ratings in most recent polls, including a Washington Post-ABC survey released Sunday.

While the president received positive marks in the poll for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economy, he faces criticism for his efforts to manage the situation at the border.
