Geraldo Rivera rips unvaccinated nursing home workers: ‘No Vaccine, no work’

Fox News regular Geraldo Rivera on Wednesday condemned nursing home workers who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine, saying they shouldn’t be working without one.

Rivera was referencing a New York Post article from Monday that said 67 percent of nursing home workers in the state of New York are vaccinated, compared to 81 percent of their residents.

“No Vaccine, no work, no school, no in-person shopping,” Rivera wrote on Twitter. “You have a right not to be vaccinated. I have the right to protect my kids.”

The borough of Brooklyn has seen only 58 percent of their nursing home workers get vaccinated as of July 10, compared to 75 percent of their residents, according to the Post.

“They had access to the vaccine before any of us. There should be a requirement for anybody working in these facilities to be vaccinated,” said New York Assemblyman Ron Kim (D), chairman of the legislature’s Aging Committee.

New York Health Care Department spokesperson Jill Montag told the Post that nursing homes are failing to protect “vulnerable” residents.

“As we’ve said repeatedly, nursing homes, their associations and unions have a moral and ethical obligation to ensure that nursing home employees get vaccinated. While the Department of Health continues to conduct outreach and provide resources, the staff vaccination rate at some nursing homes throughout the state remains inexcusably low.”
