Rapper Travis Scott will cover the funeral expenses of the concertgoers who died at his Astroworld Festival on Friday, his representative told CNN in a statement Monday.
“Travis remains in active conversations with the city of Houston, law enforcement and local first responders to respectfully and appropriately connect with the individuals and families of those involved,” the statement reads. “These are the first of many steps Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process.”
Scott has also partnered with BetterHelp through his Cactus Jack Foundation to offer mental health services for those affected by the tragedy, linking to the partnership on his Instagram page.

The tragedy occurred Friday night as concertgoers pushed and stampeded toward the stage during Scott’s set, leaving eight dead. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner told The Independent that the ages of the eight victims who died ranged from 14 to 27 years old.
In addition to those who died, 25 were hospitalized and over 300 were injured and treated at the scene.
“I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night,” Scott tweeted on Saturday. “My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival. Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life.”
Several concertgoers and families of those who were injured or who died have filed lawsuits against Scott. Scott hasn’t commented on the lawsuits at this time.
