Rapper Young Dolph gunned down in Memphis

Rapper Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis, Tenn., Wednesday afternoon, law enforcement sources confirmed to multiple media outlets.

Makeda’s Butter Cookies owner Maurice Hill told Fox affiliate WHBQ that Young Dolph, who was born Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr., walked into his bakery around 1 p.m. local time, at which point someone drove up and gunned the rapper down.

“One male victim was located and was pronounced dead. No suspect info is available at this time,” the Memphis Police Department said in a statement to The Hill. “The victim will be identified once the next of kin notification has been completed.”

WHBQ noted that when their crews arrived at the scene, Young Dolph’s Lamborghini sat in the parking lot, with a large crowed eventually gathering outside the bakery.

The “100 Shots” singer, a Memphis native, is known to conduct Thanksgiving food drives in the city through its Athletic Ministries charity and has donated money to his former high school, according to WHBQ.

Condolences and prayers came in on social media, including from former NFL star Deion Sanders and rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
