FCC increases pressure on Fox and Cablevision to bring TV back

Lake’s letter appears to pursue that route.

“In particular, we request that you describe with specificity what has transpired since you initially began your negotiations, and detail the efforts your company is making to end the current impasse,” Lake said.

“If you are aware of any conduct by the other side that you believe violates the good faith requirement, please so indicate and provide supporting evidence,” he said.

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has previously called the company leaders and urged them to resolve the issue quickly.

He said that “Cablevision and Fox are spending more time attacking each other through ads and lobbyists than sitting down at the negotiating table.”

The agency has also worked to inform consumers about what’s going on.

The letter from Lake addressed the president of News Corp., Chase Carey, and the president of Cablevision, James Dolan. News Corp. owns Fox Broadcasting.

Update: In a statement, Cablevision said it would welcome the FCC’s intervention.
