A closer look at next week’s House schedule
Wednesday, Jan. 19
The House meets at 10:00 a.m. to consider H.R. 2, and a vote is expected.
Thursday, Jan. 20
The House meets at 9:00 a.m. and will consider H.Res. 9, a resolution instructing House committees to consider alternatives to last year’s healthcare law. That resolution will be considered under a rule that allows one hour of debate, and allows members to consider one amendment from Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah).
The Matheson amendment would instruct committees to include a permanent solution to the Medicare physician payment formula, or a so-called permanent “doc-fix.” In recent years, Congress has had to act periodically to avoid cuts to Medicare physician payments, and members from both parties have said they are interested in finding a permanent solution so these periodic votes are not needed.
Friday, Jan. 21
House not in session.
