Elsewhere this week, IBM, Time Magazine and the Rockefeller Foundation will host an “Intelligent Cities Forum” at the National Building Museum in Washington on Monday. The event will focus on how cities in a cash-crunch can use data and information technology to create “sustainable communities.”

In California, the High Speed Rail Authority will hold a series of open houses on its proposed Los Angeles to San Diego project that has received the most of any individual project in the Obama administration’s push to build more railways in the country. There will be meetings Tuesday in Covina, Calif., Wednesday in San Dimas and Thursday in South El Monte.

Additionally this week, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will bike to work with Department of Transportation employees to celebrate “bike to work month.”
