I cover tax and the economy for The Hill, which is a beat that spans a lot of different parts of both the private and public sectors. On the government side, I cover Congress, the Federal Reserve, the Treasury Department, the IRS and different international agencies. Sometimes I cover the White House and Supreme Court, too.
On the private sector side, I cover big companies, lobbies and law firms. I also frequently talk to academics, unions, and trade associations, but I try to put individual citizens and taxpayers at the heart of my work.
Before joining The Hill, I covered the United Nations for NHK Japan in New York, and I was an assignment editor for Al Jazeera in Doha, Qatar. I’ve been lucky enough to report from the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and all over North America.
