Potential 2016 presidential contender Hillary Clinton jabbed back at GOP strategist Karl Rove for questioning her health during an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer.
Asked what the former secretary of State would like to tell Rove about her brain, Clinton responded: “I know he was called ‘Bush’s Brain’ in one of the books written about him, and I wish him well.”
{mosads}Bush’s Brain is a 2004 book about Rove’s political career as President George W. Bush’s political advisor. Liberals have often mocked Bush’s intelligence and Clinton seemed to be implying Rove isn’t very intelligent himself.
Rove has been attacking Clinton’s age and health related to a concussion she suffered in 2012, which subsequently led to a dangerous blood clot.
While former President Bill Clinton has come to his wife’s defense, the former first lady has only defended her health without directly taking on Rove until now.
During the interview, Clinton went into detail about her concussion and subsequent clot, and said she would be on blood thinners for the rest of her life.
She noted she was in good health and if she ran for president, she would release her health records as other past candidates have done.
Clinton also echoed the president’s view that exchanging Army Sgt. Bowie Bergdahl for five Taliban fighters was the right move regardless of what led to his capture.
The full interview is scheduled for 9 p.m. EST on Monday, the eve of Clinton’s memoir release, “Hard Choices.”
