Geraldo vs. Gohmert: War of the ‘selfie’
Rep. Louie Gohmert and Geraldo Rivera are in a war of words, with the Texas Republican saying the Fox News Channel personality is a “selfie nudie” expert and Rivera blasting Gohmert for being “scrawny and envious.”
In a “Fox & Friends” interview Friday morning to discuss Ebola, Gohmert slammed the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for what he described as a “war” on two nurses who contracted the deadly virus.
{mosads}“I don’t want [CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden] to resign,” Gohmert said. “Geraldo was talking about that. And you know, I have to bow to him in certain areas where he has more expertise, like selfie nudies, he’s got more expertise there.”
After Gohmert’s dig, “Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade defended his colleague, calling Rivera “a great friend of ours,” and telling the lawmaker not to “take shots at Geraldo.”
“Oh, I didn’t mean to,” Gohmert, 61, responded. “I mean he really has more expertise in that area.”
Rivera was quick to respond on Twitter, writing to his more than 50,000 followers:
Rep Louis Gohmert is exactly what's wrong with Congress. He's a whiny, name-calling ideologue with no original ideas& he's scrawny & envious

Gohmert may have been referencing a shirtless photo Rivera, 71, tweeted last week:

It’s not the first time a snapshot of the veteran television pro sans shirt has ended up on Twitter. Last year, he posted another semi-nude photo on social media, later saying he had consumed “a couple of drinks” before the selfie exposure.
