Former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) warned voters Tuesday night in a tweet that Republican control of the Senate means “boots on the ground are coming” to the Middle East.
Paul, a former GOP presidential contender, is well know for his anti-intervention foreign policy.
{mosads}His son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), is leaning toward a presidential bid in 2016 and has been a sharp critic of U.S. policy toward the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Rand Paul has also warned against U.S. intervention abroad, but has also said that he does not share all of his father’s views.
Republicans have widely criticized President Obama for ruling out U.S. ground troops in the fight ISIS militants. Republicans need to net six seats to take control of the Senate.
