A new chief technology officer to Jeb Bush’s political action committee has resigned after it was revealed he made comments many deemed offensive about women and gay men.
“The Right to Rise PAC accepted Ethan Czahor’s resignation today,” said Bush aide Kristy Campbell in a statement.
{mosads}”While Ethan has apologized for regrettable and insensitive comments, they do not reflect the views of Governor Bush or his organization and it is appropriate for him to step aside. We wish him the best.”
BuzzFeed News reported on Monday that Ethan Czahor, who had been hired to be the chief technology officer for the PAC, had previously tweeted disparaging remarks.
In one tweet he said that “college female art majors are sluts, science majors are also sluts but uglier.” He used the word “slut” in other tweets as well.
“[T]here are now 12 girls who will never amount to anything greater than being ‘some chick that slept with Tiger Woods,” he wrote in another.
He also tweeted that “the golds gym in [San Francisco] has a wide selection of free weights, machines, and men who undress you with there eyes while you work out.”
The PAC quickly disavowed his remarks on Monday but told BuzzFeed that Czahor “is a great talent in the tech world and we are very excited to have him on board the Right to Rise PAC.” They also said that they had asked him to delete the remarks.
On Tuesday afternoon, The Huffington Post reported that Czahor, while hosting a college radio program, had praised Martin Luther King Jr. for not wearing pants that “sagged to his ankles.”
Czahor tweeted out a statement Tuesday night, after news of his resignation broke.
The Right to Rise PAC is widely seen as the first step to Bush building a campaign operation should he decide to run for president in 2016. He has made several major hires — including Czahor — as he weighs his decision about launching a White House bid.
