Ed Rendell predicts Biden won’t run
Former Gov. Ed Rendell (D-Pa.) doesn’t think Vice President Joe Biden will jump into the 2016 Democratic race.
“No one knows what Joe Biden’s going to do… I think in the end he won’t [run,]” Rendell, a former DNC chairman told John Catsimatidis host of “The Cats Roundtable” on AM 970 in New York on Sunday.
{mosads}Biden has said he is weighing a bid, but acknowledges it is a difficult decision as he recovers from the recent death of his son, Beau Biden.
Last week, Biden said he was in “no rush” to make up his mind. But a repot in The Wall Street Journal suggested aides believe he is more likely to run than stand down.
Recent reports said that some Biden supporters are quietly hiring staff in key states in anticipation of a bid.
Rendell, a prominent supporter of Hillary Clinton, also criticized her campaign’s handling of the controversy over her private email server.
Rendell said that while he didn’t believe she had done anything wrong, the campaign is handling the issue “very, very poorly.”
“Hillary’s suffered some damage,” he conceded.
