Liberal group touts donations to progressive causes

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee is touting its role in raising almost $500,000 in small-dollar donations to a slew of progressive causes and candidates, including former Sen. Russ Feingold’s battleground Senate matchup in Wisconsin.

The group has helped to bring in more than $110,000 of the more than $4 million that Feingold has raised in this election cycle, as well as $55,000 total to three House candidates the group endorsed with just three days left in the third fundraising quarter.

{mosads}“Small-dollar grassroots donations and the deep expertise the PCCC team gives candidates allow bold progressives to take on corporate-backed establishment candidates,” Stephanie Taylor, a PCCC co-founder, said in a statement.

The group also fundraised for causes outside of the 2016 election cycle.

It raised more than $100,000 for Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) despite the fact that she isn’t up for reelection until 2018. The PCCC also raised $33,700 for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund as the group continues to face criticism and the specter of losing federal funding over the controversial release of hidden-camera videos by a an anti-abortion-rights group.

“These grassroots donations show how campaigning on Warren wing economic-populism issues like debt-free college, expanding Social Security, and challenging corporate interests, energizes voters across the country.
