Clinton: I’m not rushing Biden to make 2016 decision
Hillary Clinton says she won’t rush Vice President Biden on his decision on whether to enter the 2016 presidential race.
“That’s up to Vice President Biden,” she said in a Friday interview for CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper.”
“Certainly I’m not in any way suggesting or recommending that the vice president accept any timetable other than the one that is clicking inside of him.
{mosads}”He has to make this decision,” she added.
Her comments though come only days after her campaign chairman said it was time for Biden to decide.
“It’s time he make that decision,” said Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on Wednesday.
His comments came a day after the first Democratic presidential debate, which Biden did not attend.
Sources earlier this week said Biden was close to a decision intensifying speculation over a possible bid. But doubts have also grown as his potential rivals have built up their fundraising and with key deadlines facing a possible campaign.
Clinton’s strong performance in Tuesday night’s debate also led some political watchers to suggest that Biden’s window was rapidly closing.
Clinton defended Podesta’s statements in the Friday interviewing, saying that he only meant that “there does come a point by which a decision needs to be made.”
