Poll: Clinton leads Sanders by 25 points nationally

Hillary Clinton has extended her lead nationally over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) to 25 points in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, according to a new Bloomberg Politics poll.

{mosads}Clinton leads Sanders 55 percent to 30 percent among Democrats in the poll released Friday. She led Sanders 33 percent to 24 percent in a September poll that also included Vice President Joe Biden.

The latest survey was conducted in the days after the second Democratic debate last weekend, which came in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris.

Clinton holds strong leads over Sanders on issues of who can best combat terrorism, who has the better temperament to be president, and who would work most effectively with Congress.

Sanders runs more closely with the former secretary of State on questions such as, “Who cares the most about people like you?” and, “Who will fight the hardest for the middle class?”

Clinton’s favorability rating has risen to 42 percent, up from 38 percent in September.

The survey of 1,002 voters was conducted Nov. 15 to Nov. 17 via landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of 5 points.
