Sanders urges turnout at Nevada campaign concert
Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders on Friday urged supporters to get to the polls at a star-studded campaign event one day before Nevada’s caucuses.
“Nevada, please come out in large numbers,” he said at a rally in Henderson, Nev., late Friday night, according to the Washington Post.
{mosads}He was joined by the rock band Cold War Kids and actress Gaby Hoffman of the HBO show “Girls,” and he sang along to “This Land is Your Land.”
Defeating rival Hillary Clinton in Nevada would be a huge win for Sanders, showing that he can compete outside of predominantly white states like Iowa and New Hampshire.
Sanders has focused his campaign on appeals to minority voters, in addition to his familiar arguments against money in politics and wealth inequality.
Clinton once led Nevada by a large margin, buoyed by an edge in minority voters, but recent polling has shown Sanders catching up in the state.
