Giffords stars in new Clinton ad on guns

Former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.) appears in a new ad released by Hillary Clinton’s campaign, highlighting the Democratic presidential candidate’s commitment to stopping gun violence.

“We have a gun violence problem so I’m voting for Hillary Clinton,” Giffords says in the ad. “She’s tough. She will stand up to the gun lobby.

Giffords was shot in the head during a mass shooting in 2011 while speaking to constituents in Tucson, Ariz. She was forced to retire from Congress due to her injury.

Since leaving Congress, she and her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, founded a gun control advocacy group called Americans for Responsible Solutions. The couple endorsed Clinton in January.
