Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Wesley Clark says presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump will say anything for attention.
“No one really knows what Donald Trump stands for,” Clark said on CNN on Tuesday.
{mosads}”He’s made very clear he’ll say anything to get publicity and to get elected, and no one knows what it means.”
Clark said when he travels around the world, people ask him about Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. and whether it will actually happen.
“It’s a very dangerous thing for a president of the United States not to stand for anything,” he said.
“Because people all over the world, they rely on America for consistency; they want us to be a reliable partner. They don’t want us to be a bargainer.”
Clark added that people in Eastern Europe are “quite afraid” of a Trump presidency, because the presumptive GOP nominee has indicated he would work closely with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“People in Eastern Europe, even NATO members, are concerned that, under a Trump presidency, things might fall apart.”
