Rep. Charles Boustany’s Louisiana Senate campaign apparently aired live video of internal political conversations onto his official Facebook page by accident.
The Republican’s legislative Facebook profile began to stream live video Tuesday afternoon, according to The Times-Picayune, in which he and others discussed two of Boustany’s top opponents: State Treasurer John Kennedy and fellow Louisiana Rep. John Fleming (R).
{mosads}“I was just really hoping he would say something dumb in private,” an unidentified voice says of Kennedy.
While a voice says it’s impossible to “knock Kennedy off message” because “he’s dogged,” another briefly chided Fleming for his “gaffes.”
It’s unclear who besides Boustany was in the video, but The Times-Picayune identified his legislative assistant, Jordan Gleason. Official staff and resources can’t be used for campaign purposes, but staffers are allowed to do political work on their own time.
Boustany’s official office did not immediately return a request for comment as to how the campaign conversation ended up publically broadcast.
He’s running to fill the seat to be vacated by Republican Sen. David Vitter, who announced he would not seek reelection after losing a race for governor last year.
