GOP senator calls on Obama to step up anti-ISIS efforts
Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) called out President Obama in his party’s weekly address Saturday for failing to defeat the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
{mosads}Isakson commemorated the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, saying the perpetrators “attacked the heart and soul of America.”
He also applauded those serving in the fight against terrorism and mourned those who “paid the ultimate sacrifice.” But he insisted that Obama do more to combat modern terror threats.
“It is important now more than ever that we continue our efforts against terrorism to protect our homeland and work with our allies to fight for freedom around the world,” Isakson said.
“Unfortunately, President Obama continues to cling to a plan that contains rather than defeats ISIL,” he added. “The Assad regime and Russia have worked against the moderate opposition. The President’s strategy of containment is clearly insufficient and is failing to end the threats and horrific actions of terrorist groups.”
“The United States must directly and aggressively combat the Islamic State,” Isakson said. “We must kill them before they kill us”
