New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) picked up two endorsements Monday, including one from gun control activists, in her bid to knock off incumbent Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R).

{mosads}The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence said Hassan will stand up to the gun lobby in Washington as she has in her home state.

“With a Sen. Hassan, voters will have the confidence of knowing she would actually represent New Hampshire, not the multi-billion dollar gun industry,” Brady President Dan Gross said in a statement.

The largest newspaper in New England also weighed in on the New Hampshire Senate race Monday, as The Boston Globe endorsed Hassan, saying Ayotte had “flunked the Trump test.”

In New Hampshire, Hassan vetoed concealed-carry legislation earlier this year, but the state still allows gun owners to carry visible firearms that are not concealed.

Hassan said she wants to “prevent mass shootings and daily gun violence from becoming the new normal.”

“In the Senate, I will fight for common sense gun safety reforms like expanding background checks to all gun sales and making sure that known and suspected terrorists aren’t able to buy guns and explosives,” she said in a statement.

Hassan seems to have a slight edge in a close race with Ayotte. The RealClearPolitics average of polls gives her a 2-point lead, 46 percent to 44 percent, over the incumbent.

Brady accused Ayotte of “pandering to the most evil special interest of all at the expense of American lives.”

“Not Sandy Hook, nor Orlando, nor the nearly 198,000 Americans who have been shot and killed during her term have been enough for Senator Ayotte to do the right thing,” said Gross.
