Death toll in Calif. warehouse fire rises to 30

The death toll in an Oakland, Calif., warehouse fire now stands at 30, an official said Sunday afternoon.

“We will confirm at this time that we have 30 victims,” the Alameda County Sheriff Office’s Sgt. Ray Kelly said, according to The New York Times

The fire ripped through a warehouse Friday night during a concert. Authorities said a full search of the warehouse may take days.

Kelly said officials “will be here for days and days to come,” as emergency personnel goes through the wreckage.

The number of missing persons stood at 35 on Saturday, according to the newspaper.

“A lot of these people are young people,” the newspaper reported Kelly saying on Saturday. “They are from all parts of our community.”
