Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Thursday said that President Trump is a “bull in a china shop” but reiterated his belief that he hasn’t committed any crimes as the White House braced for the testimony of fired FBI Director James Comey.
Asked on CBS This Morning if he was “troubled” by Comey’s released testimony that showed Trump asked for Comey’s loyalty, Graham said he was.
“Half of what Trump does is not okay,” Graham replied. “If you’re trying to convict him for being a bull in a china shop, being prude and rude, you’d win.”
“But doesn’t that trouble you?” CBS’s Gayle King asked.
“A lot of the stuff troubles me, but it’s not a crime,” Graham said.
{mosads}In late May, Graham called for Comey to be held accountable after reports emerged that Comey had acted on fake information generated by Russia while acting on the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.
“That to me is a stunning story,” Graham said at the time. “From a Congress point of view, he never told us it was fake, so he needs to be held accountable.”
Comey will testify Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, where he will testify about his interactions with Trump and his work on the FBI’s Russia investigation.
