Fox host Jeanine Pirro: ‘I can’t blame’ Trump for dealing with Dems
Fox News host Jeanine Pirro says she “can’t blame” President Trump for reaching across the aisle to make a deal with Democrats this week that raised the debt-ceiling and funded the government through early December.
“The Establishment is out to get Donald Trump,” Pirro told John Catsimatidis on AM970 in New York on Sunday.
“I can’t blame him,” she said on Trump’s decision to work with Democratic leadership on a budget bill, “and I said, ‘Good for him.’
{mosads}”Not only is he gonna shake up the establishment, he’s gonna change the paradigm. People in Washington have to understand that this man is going to do what’s right for us,” Pirro said.
Trump struck a deal with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) to approve a temporary plan to raise the country’s debt limit to avoid a government shutdown and approve emergency funds for Hurricane Harvey recovery.
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) had said the Democrats’ proposal was “ridiculous” and “disgraceful” just hours before President Trump approved the plan. Ryan has drawn criticism from Trump supporters in the GOP for his clashes with the president.
“The truth is as soon as the president does something they don’t like, they are the first to criticize him,” Pirro said of Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Pirro said she expects to see Trump continue to work with the opposition party.
“He is a dealmaker,” Pirro said. “And if for nine months the Republican establishment that continuously criticizes him and backbites cannot get anything done, then it is time for the President to move across the aisle.
“Let the Republicans be shocked, let them understand that this president is the outsider,” Pirro added.
The Fox News host also criticized former FBI Director James Comey for his reported decision to draft a letter exonerating Hillary Clinton from her email scandal while serving as secretary of State, before he had interviewed key witnesses in the case and Clinton herself.
