Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing adult-film actress Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against President Trump and his former lawyer Michael Cohen, said on Sunday that he is becoming increasingly serious about a possible run for the presidency in 2020.

{mosads}”I’m very serious,” Avenatti told CNN’s “Reliable Sources” on Sunday. “And I’m getting more serious by the week because I’m traveling around the country and people are encouraging me to do it.”

Avenatti also addressed his Democratic critics who say he lacks the requisite experience to run, having never held public office.

“I’ve got 20 years of experience at a very high level as an attorney,” Avenatti said. “I understand how governmental regulations are passed, how laws are passed, how the Supreme Court works. I have an extreme depth of knowledge.”

Avenatti told CNN earlier this year that he’s worked on more than 150 campaigns in 42 states.

Avenatti touted his ability to navigate the media, something in which, he said, the president must have expertise.

“We live in a different media age, a different realm if you will,” Avenatti explained. “And whoever is going to aspire to the presidency is going to need to understand what that realm entails and how to navigate it.”

Avenatti told The Hill earlier this year that the Democratic Party needs “a street fighter … someone that can give as good as they take.” As he has hinted at a possible presidential run, Avenatti has also made appearances at high-profile Democratic events.

Avenatti is representing Daniels in her lawsuit against Trump and Cohen, over a nondisclosure agreement that was intended to keep her quiet about her alleged affair with Trump.
