DSCC outraises NRSC
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee outraised its Republican counterpart by $1.78 million in March, bringing in $8.1 million.
{mosads}That marks the DSCC’s best month of the cycle so far, and leaves the committee with $22.2 million cash on hand and no debt.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee posted a record-breaking month, though they were ultimately outraised, bringing in $6.35 million for the month and posting $15.87 million cash on hand.
The DSCC has typically outraised the NRSC in monthly totals and brought in $74.1 million overall for the cycle thus far, $21 million more than the NRSC.
Still, Democrats are facing a much tougher political climate and a difficult map this cycle, which requires them to be on defense in a number of states favorable to Republicans. Their task of holding onto their six-seat majority has been made tougher by millions already spent by GOP outside groups, at least $30 million from one group backed by the billionaires Charles and David Koch alone, in competitive House and Senate races.
DSCC Executive Director Guy Cecil said Democratic grassroots donors are helping their candidates fight back against the Kochs, but warned that they’ll need to keep up the giving for Democrats to remain competitive.
“Republican Senate candidates up and down the map have chosen to advocate for the Koch agenda that’s good for billionaire special interests but bad for middle class families across the country. As a reward, the Koch Brothers are pouring unprecedented millions into false attack ads aimed at boosting these Republicans, but Democrats have a strong grassroots network and thousands of generous donors across the country helping us raise the resources we need to fight back,” he said.
“We need our supporters who care about having a Senate that fights for the middle class to continue to help us win each month and fund the grassroots operations we need to win.”
