Clinton: ‘I come from the ’60s, a long time ago’
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Saturday may have given ammunition to challengers who say it is time to move on to a new generation of leadership.
{mosads}“I come from the ’60s, a long time ago,” Clinton said at Saturday night’s CBS presidential debate, in response to a question about student unrest on college campuses.
The former secretary of State has faced bipartisan criticism for her age and length of time in the political spotlight.
On the Democratic side, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has called for a fresh face for the party.
On the Republican side, Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla.) central campaign theme has been that it’s time for “a new generation of leaders” to step forward.
Republicans on Twitter were giddy over Clinton’s remark, predicting that it will soon be used in a campaign ad.
