Clinton: 2002 Iraq War vote not related to fighting ISIS
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Thursday night fired back at rival Bernie Sanders’s criticism of her 2002 Iraq War vote, arguing it isn’t relevant to the threat of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Sanders has repeatedly hammered Clinton over her vote to authorize the war in Iraq when she was a New York senator, using it to question her foreign policy judgment.
{mosads}”We differed on the war in Iraq, which created barbaric organizations like ISIS,” the Vermont senator said at MSNBC’s Democratic debate in New Hampshire just five days ahead of the Granite State primary.
Clinton replied: “We did differ. A vote in 2002 is not a plan to defeat ISIS.”
“We have to look at the threats that we face right now and we have to be prepared to take them on and defeat them,” she continued.
