Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) says he doesn’t feel his endorsement of Hillary Clinton has done anything to “undercut the primary” in South Carolina.
In a Tuesday conference call with reporters, Clyburn — who endorsed Clinton last week — said he waited as long as he could to make an endorsement in the Democratic presidential race.

“I don’t think I’ve done anything to disrupt” the primary, Clyburn said on the call, organized by the Clinton campaign.
The longtime congressman acknowledged that he’s met with Clinton’s rival Bernie Sanders several times — recently in South Carolina — but said the Vermont Senator never asked for his endorsement.
“He never asked me for an endorsement so I never considered giving one,” Clyburn said, adding that his head was telling him to stay neutral but “my heart was always with Hillary.”
