Clinton wins Sanders’s turf in Massachusetts

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has defeated Democratic rival Bernie Sanders in the Massachusetts primary, dealing a painful blow to the Vermont senator’s campaign.

Massachusetts was a state seen as favorable to the Independent, because it borders his home state.

{mosads}Sanders had spent millions on Boston TV in the lead-up to the New Hampshire primary, which he won convincingly, giving his allies hope that there would be pay-off in the Bay State.

But Clinton’s victory on Tuesday night, coupled with her decisive wins in Southern states with larger minority populations, cements the former secretary of State’s status as the prohibitive favorite to win the Democratic primary.

Sanders won his home state of Vermont in the Super Tuesday contest, as well as Oklahoma and Colorado. Clinton won Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
