Clinton easily wins Florida

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is projected to win the Florida primary, giving her the majority of the state’s 214 pledged delegates. 

Media outlets called the race soon as the final polls closed at 8 p.m. EDT.

{mosads}The outcome had been expected for weeks, with Clinton maintaining a big lead in Sunshine State polls. 

In the closing days before the primary, Clinton and her surrogates bashed rival Bernie Sanders for decades-old comments praising parts of Fidel Castro’s regime in Cuba.

Clinton and Sanders faced off in a debate in Miami last week, and both spent time campaigning in the state.

Clinton’s camp hopes the strong victory Tuesday bodes well for her chances in Florida in November, if she wins the nomination. The state is among the most crucial in the general election.
