Sanders on Trump: ‘I never even went to one of his weddings’

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is doubling up, attacking rival Hillary Clinton and GOP front-runner Donald Trump in one swoop.

Sanders on Friday made reference to Clinton attending one of Trump’s weddings as a guest.

{mosads}“Let me say a word to you about my good friend Donald Trump,” Sanders said at a rally in Idaho Falls, according to The New York Times. “Just kidding, he’s not my good friend. In fact, I never even went to one of his weddings.”

Throughout the campaign, Sanders has promised not to make any negative attacks on other candidates. But the Vermont senator on Friday said he was “making an exception” because of the danger that Trump poses.

“The truth is that Donald Trump is a pathological liar,” Sanders said. “People can disagree about ideas, but you cannot have a president who the American people cannot trust when he speaks.”

Sanders also highlighted several polls that indicate that he would do better in a general election against Trump than Clinton would.

According to a Real Clear Politics average of polls, Clinton beats the business mogul in a general election matchup by about six points, while Sanders comes out ahead by 10.

But Sanders faces much more daunting challenges in the primary, trailing Clinton by over 300 delegates. He lost five state primaries to the former secretary of State last week.
