House Dem campaign arm outraises GOP for second month in row

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee outraised its Republican counterpart in February, hauling in $5.2 million for the month and reporting $5.9 million cash on hand.

The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $4.9 million last month and reported $4.3 million cash on hand.

{mosads}It’s the second month in a row the DCCC raised more than the NRCC. For the month of January, the DCCC raised $4.4 million to the NRCC’s $3 million.

The DCCC touted the figures Friday as a solid start in the party’s drive to take back the House majority in 2012.

“The NRCC and the Republican majority are off to a rocky start under Chairman Pete Sessions and Speaker John Boehner,” DCCC Executive Director Jennifer Crider said in an e-mail.

Despite the strong month, the DCCC is still trying to get out from under a pile of debt. The committee reported $17.3 million in debt at the end of February. That’s significantly higher than the $9.5 million of debt the NRCC reported to end the month.

The DCCC paid down $1.3 million of its debt last month.
