DCCC logs record March fundraising with $10.3M

President Obama’s fundraising efforts helped House Democrats bank more than $10 million in March, an aide with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) aide said Wednesday.

According to the DCCC, the committee raised $10.3 million — more than any other March in its history. The committee has $40.2 million in the bank.

{mosads}“The DCCC has sustained a blistering fundraising pace this election cycle because Americans are sick and tired of a Republican Congress that shutdown our government and that is stacking the deck for the wealthiest while the middle class pays the price,” committee Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) said in a statement.

“Americans are hungry for a Congress that will buckle down and focus on creating jobs and strengthening the economy — and that’s why they’re supporting the DCCC at record levels.”

That total was boosted by a presidential fundraiser at the home of Miami Heat legend Alonzo Mourning last month. Approximately 75 people attended the fundraiser, which also included an appearance from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Tickets ranged up to $16,200 per person and $32,400 per couple.

The president has committed to doing at least six fundraising events for the committee this year, according to a White House aide. The Washington Post reported last month that the president would headline a fundraiser for the committee in May at the Maryland home of donors Lora and Jeff Drezner.

House Democrats entered the month with a $10 million advantage over House Republicans, who have not yet released their March fundraising numbers. But March is typically a big month for the committee, which hosts an annual dinner that serves as its biggest fundraising event of the year.
