Jindal to GOP: Don’t be ‘cheaper version’ of Dems

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said Friday the GOP must stop its ideology from overlapping with Democrats’.

{mosads}Jindal urged Republicans to embrace conservative values and distinguish themselves from the competition during an address at the annual conservative RedState Gathering in Atlanta.

“America does not need a second liberal party,” Jindal told the crowd.

“They do not need us to be a cheaper version of the Democrats,” he added of voters nationwide.

Jindal also attacked his rivals for the presidential nomination.

“We have a lot of great talkers running for president,” he said. “The problem is we have a great talker in the White House right now.

“We need a doer, not a talker. We cannot afford four more years of on-the-job training.”

Jindal argued Friday that federal funding of Planned Parenthood is one issue that can help Republicans distinguish themselves from Democrats. He charged that the organization should lose its tax dollars amid controversy over its handling of fetal tissue.

If elected president, “I will send every federal agency I can think of to go after Planned Parenthood,” Jindal said. “There’s no reason why one dime of our taxpayer dollars should be going to this organization.”

The fifth video in a series of undercover clips documenting Planned Parenthood officials emerged Tuesday.

The latest recording features a representative from the women’s health organization discussing the procurement and cost of “intact” fetuses for use in medical research.

The graphic clips have created a furor over the role of federal tax dollars in Planned Parenthood’s budget. A Senate GOP measure aimed at defunding the group failed last Monday.

The Center for Medial Progress, which secretly recorded the videos, has promised to release more footage.
