Trump: Iran prisoner swap ‘doesn’t sound too good’
Stressing that he still hasn’t seen the details of the prisoner swap, Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Saturday said the deal to free four American citizens from Iranian captivity “doesn’t sound too good.”
“I have to see what the deal is for the four people, because somebody said they’re getting seven people back,” Trump said at a rally in Portsmouth, N.H.
{mosads}“So essentially they get 150 billion plus seven, and we get four. Meh, doesn’t sound too good. Doesn’t sound too good.”
The billionaire business mogul added that the prisoners should have been released years ago.
“This should have been three, four years ago when the deal was struck,” he said. “Before the deal was made, and this is the world’s longest deal, they should have said we want our prisoners back.
“But we have to see, because I just heard about this an hour ago, and I’m happy they’re coming back, but I will tell you it’s a disgrace that they’ve been there so long, it’s a disgrace, remember that, a total disgrace,” he added.
Four Americans held hostage in Iran are expected to be released on Saturday.
A U.S. official told the Associated Press that Iran will receive seven of their own prisoners in exchange.
