Video calls ABC ‘Anybody But Carly’ network for debate snub
A super-PAC supporting Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina on Saturday released a parody ad for the GOP debate, calling host ABC the “Anybody But Carly” network for refusing to include her in the lineup.
“Saturday on ABC, the Anybody But Carly network: Tune in as we exclude Carly Fiorina, but include people she beat,” a theatrical narrator created by CARLY for America says in the spoof, accompanied by dramatic music. “On Anybody But Carly, we rig the game.”
{mosads}The 40-second spot points to the Feb. 1 Iowa caucuses, where Fiorina tied GOP presidential rival Jeb Bush in delegates and finished ahead of Chris Christie and John Kasich. Bush, Christie and Kasich are all in the debate.
“She’s rising in the polls, beat Kasich and Christie in Iowa, tied with Bush in delegates,” the video continues. “And, unlike all of them, she has actually won debates before, taking it to Hillary Clinton like nobody else can.”
It concludes by taking several shots aimed at The Walt Disney Company, ABC’s parent organization, accusing the group of running a “Mickey Mouse operation.”
“But on Disney’s ABC, we’ve frozen Carly out, turned the debate inside out, all part of our Mickey Mouse operation,” the video says.
Several prominent Republicans, including 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, have called on ABC to let Fiorina into the debate.
Even primary opponents Ted Cruz and Ben Carson have pressured the network to reconsider its criteria, but so far to no avail.
