Donald Trump lambasted former 2016 GOP presidential rival Lindsey Graham in an extended riff, in which he called the South Carolina senator “one of the worst representatives” in the country.
“Lindsey Graham — you have a guy, he’s one of the dumbest human beings I’ve ever seen. He runs against me for president, starts out at 6 percent and he starts hitting me,” Trump said unprompted during a question-and-answer session in South Carolina.
“He ends up at zero [percent]. Here’s a guy running for the presidency, he’s at zero. He leaves in disgrace, in my opinion, I think he’s disgraced. … I don’t think he could run for dogcatcher in this state and win.”
Graham appeared Wednesday morning on Fox News and warned that Republicans will get “slaughtered” in the general election if the party selects Trump as their nominee.
“I saw him on television this morning, and I think he lost it,” Trump said.
“He couldn’t even talk, he was shaking — the hatred.”
Graham ended his presidential bid in December and has since become an active surrogate for Jeb Bush. The South Carolina senator and Trump repeatedly locked horns on the campaign trail, most notably when Trump gave out Graham’s cellphone number during a rally.
Trump also blamed Graham’s hawkish foreign policy on leading to the war in Iraq that cost trillions.
“He knows about the military? I can push him over with a little thimble. This guy knows nothing,” he added.
