Former super-PAC strategist: Trump didn’t want to be president

The former communications director of Make America Great Again PAC says Donald Trump never really wanted to be president.

“Even Trump’s most trusted advisors didn’t expect him to fare this well,” Stephanie Cegielski wrote in xoJane.com.

{mosads}Cegielski said she was called to Trump Tower to use her public relations experience to help get Trump’s “protest candidacy” polling in double digits.

“I’ll say it again: Trump never intended to be the candidate. But his pride is too out of control to stop him now,” she wrote.

“He doesn’t want the White House. He just wants to be able to say that he could have run the White House. He’s achieved that already and then some. If there is any question, take it from someone who was recruited to help the candidate succeed, and initially very much wanted him to do so.

“The hard truth is: Trump only cares about Trump.”

She continued: “I consider myself a part of the silent majority that led to Trump’s rise, which is why I want you to know that I am with you — I wanted Trump to be real, too.

“He is not.”

Cegielski also questioned Trump’s blunt response to the terrorist attack in Brussels.

Trump’s campaign issued a statement emphasizing Cegielski worked for the pro-Trump super-PAC that shuttered in October and not the campaign, suggesting she “knows nothing” about Trump and calling her “yet another desperate person looking for their fifteen minutes.”

“Evidently she worked for a Super PAC which Mr. Trump disavowed and requested the closure of via the FEC,” the campaign said, according to People

“She knows nothing about Mr. Trump or the campaign and her disingenuous and factually inaccurate statements in no way resemble any shred of truth.”
