GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz says rival Donald Trump’s campaign is “acting like union boss thugs” following Cruz’s sweep of all 34 pledged delegates in Colorado last week.
“I think it is grotesque to have a campaign that engages in threatening voters,” Cruz said Wednesday night at a CNN town hall, referencing Trump’s remarks at campaign rallies about roughing up protesters.
{mosads}The Texas senator also mentioned longtime Trump ally Roger Stone’s suggestion that he’d release information about delegates’ hotel rooms during July’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland in an effort to shore up more support for Trump.
“We’re not interested in behaving like union thugs, and Donald Trump needs to learn that,” Cruz said.
Trump has for days lashed out against the GOP primary process, calling it “rigged” and a “scam.” Party officials pushed back, noting the rules have been in place for at least a year.
Cruz has accused Trump’s campaign of using threats to force delegates to support the businessman, comparing him to fictional “Godfather” mafia boss Michael Corleone.
