Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Wednesday stood by his claim that Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, was linked to Lee Harvey Oswald, citing a report in the National Enquirer.

{mosads}Trump defended himself for citing the story, saying in an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America” that the tabloid has been right in the past.

“The National Enquirer gave you John Edwards; it gave you O.J. Simpson; it gave you many, many things. I mean, you can’t knock the National Enquirer. It’s brought many things to light, not all of them pleasant.”

Trump also rejected the notion that he owed Rafael Cruz an apology over the accusations.

“No, all I was doing was referring to a picture that was reported in a magazine, and I think they didn’t deny it. I don’t think anybody denied it,” he said. “Now I don’t know what it was, exactly, but it was a major story in a major publication and it was picked up by many other publications.”

Rafael Cruz denied the allegations on Tuesday, calling them “ludicrous.”

Pressed again about making an apology, Trump said he only brought up the report in response to the Texas senator’s father saying “nasty things” about him.

“I’m just referring to an article that appeared. I mean, it has nothing to do with me,” he said.
