Manafort: GOP convention will be ‘ultimate reality show’
Donald Trump’s campaign convention manager promised an exciting GOP gathering this summer in Cleveland, calling the Republican National Convention the “ultimate reality show.”
During an MSNBC interview on Tuesday night, Paul Manafort said he’s traveling to Cleveland on Thursday and Friday and will convene with the leadership running the event to start discussing ideas.
{mosads}”Donald Trump is going to give us an exciting convention,” Manafort said, noting that the presumptive GOP presidential nominee is a television star. “We’re going to put a program together, it’s not put together yet.”
When pressed by anchor Chris Matthews on whether the convention will resemble a reality show, Manafort added, “Well this is the ultimate reality show, it’s the presidency of the United States.”
“And so it will be a program where we will be talking to America about not just Donald Trump, but the Republican Party,” he continued. “And we’ll put it in ways that we hope will be entertaining, but more important, informative.”
Manafort’s comments came on the same day as the Nebraska and West Virginia GOP primaries. West Virginia was called for Trump immediately after polls closed in the state, as was Nebraska.
