Foley: ‘We have probably lost’ Conn. governor’s race

Connecticut Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley told supporters shortly after midnight Tuesday that “we probably have lost this race” as his bid to unseat Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D) comes down to the wire. 

Foley, who is running against Malloy in a rematch of a closely contested 2010 election, said he was not conceding to the sitting Connecticut governor yet, but acknowledged he was trailing and said a comeback was unlikely. 

“Don’t get too excited because we probably have lost this race, but I’m not going to confirm that we’ve lost it until we’re sure we’ve lost it,” Foley said. 

{mosads}Connecticut was one of the few places President Obama campaigned in the closing days of the 2014 campaign. 

Other candidates Obama campaigned for in recent days, such as Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn (D) and Wisconsin Senate candidate Mary Burke (D), have fared poorly in Tuesday’s elections.
