Honda improves fundraising haul

Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.) raised $650,000 in the last fundraising quarter, his campaign announced Wednesday, a sign his campaign may be shaking off the rust.

{mosads}Honda, who is facing fellow Democrat Ro Khanna in his heavily Democratic district, now has more than $1 million cash on hand for the race after more than doubling his previous quarter’s haul.

“Our campaign has always said that we would have the resources we need to win in November, and our strong numbers this quarter show that we are on track,” Honda campaign manager Doug Greven said in a statement. “We know that Mike will make it past the June 3 primary, and we will continue to marshal our resources for the November general election.”

Khanna, a former Obama administration staffer who has the backing of a number of leading Silicon Valley figures, has outraised Honda in every quarter since he entered the race. He had just shy of $2 million for his campaign as of the end of 2013.
