Boogie on down with Rep. Rangel

Cancel your Saturday plans, New Yorkers. Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) will be available to do the Wobble, Cha Cha Slide and the Electric Slide at a “flash mob dance party” in Harlem.

Grammy-winning artist Pras Michel, The Fugees and Frank Burns will make special appearances at the party Saturday afternoon, according to Rangel’s campaign.

The flier for the event says the flash mob will also dance to the Cupid Slide, which is presumably the Cupid Shuffle.

Rangel, 84, is doing a last-minute push to garner as many votes as possible ahead of his competitive primary race on Tuesday.

He was first elected to Congress in 1970 and could potentially be unseated by State Sen. Adriano Espaillat (D).

Rangel lost The New York Time’s endorsement this week, and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has chosen not to endorse a candidate.

Former President Bill Clinton, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), New York Sens. Charles Schumer (D) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D) and several Democratic members of New York’s congressional delegation are among those who have endorsed Rangel.

The latest poll by NY1/Siena College gauging support in the race found Rangel leads Espaillat by 13 percentage points.
