Grimm fundraising dries up

Embattled Rep. Michael Grimm’s (R-N.Y.) fundraising has continued to plummet.

{mosads}Grimm, who is facing 20 counts of federal indictments ranging from fraud to perjury, brought in a paltry $23,000 for the month of June and less than $75,000 total for the fundraising quarter.

National Republicans threw Grimm under the bus following his indictment, and he’s facing accusations that he evaded taxes and employed illegal immigrants at a restaurant he owns.

Despite a lack of help from the National Republican Congressional Committee, Grimm still sits on more than $1 million for his reelection battle — but he owes nearly half that sum in debts.

Democrats are expecting to win Grimm’s Staten Island-based swing district this fall. Grimm’s opponent, Democrat Domenic Recchia, has yet to release his post-primary fundraising for June, but had raised $144,000 in the previous two months and has more than $1 million in the bank as well.
